All-Star Comics

Genres: Action, Adventure, Superhero
Publisher: DC Comics

Vol 1: Spring 1940 – October 1978
In true egalitarian fashion, each source title in All Star Comics was represented by exactly two features, and in an editor’s letter readers were asked to mail a coupon indicating which three characters they would like to see join the line up and which three they would like to get rid of. The revolving door suggested by this “content by democracy” setup disn’t entirely take hold as the comic changed its focus with issue 3 (Winter 1940) by introducing the Justice Society of America. Consequently the Bill Bronson, Ultra-Man and Red, White and Blue features – the only ones with protagonists not represented in the JSA – were quickly eclipsed in popularity.

Vol 2: May 1999
Return with us to the turning point of the 20th century, World War II, when fascist oppression threatened the globe and the cause of liberty was championed by the original, greatest super-team – the Justice Society of America! In the war’s final days, a group of seven spies attempts to summon an arcane being that may ensure victory for the faltering Axis Powers.
