Why they pushing Kamala so hard? I want to like her character, but if you have to force a character, then its not a good one. Her dialogue already is annoying, but doing stuff like this is not helping.

Okay, I’ve gotta ask because I am genuinely curious. I’ve never really cared much for Kamala Khan. Just like I never really cared for Ghost Rider, Silver Surfer or the Hulk. That’s just my personal preference. First Kamala was an Inhuman. Okay, that’s unique, an Inhuman living among humans. Then they made her a mutant and have been trying really hard ever since to jam her into the whole X-Men/Mutant storylines.

My question is this: Is Ms. Marvel really all that great? Is she any kind of popular? I’m curious because it seems to me like the writers are trying really hard to make this character work. First, she was an Inhuman. Then they made her a mutant and had her join Krakoa and aid in the struggle of mutants. Now, they’re sending her back to some of the most important X-Men storylines to show her having some kind of impact on them.

It just seems to me like they’re trying to way too hard to make Ms. Marvel gain more popularity and traction because she couldn’t do it on her own, now they’re making her sponge off the popularity and struggle of the X-Men. Now they’re trying to make her seem she has some kind of importance by having her get involved with some of the most impactful events in the history of the X-Men. This is a tactic often used to make spin-off series and stand-alone characters more popular.

Does anyone else feel like this, or am I just reading too much into it? Like I said, I never cared too much for Ms. Marvel, so I have no idea how much people really like her.

I agree, I feel they’re trying too hard to make her more and more how they want her to be and in the process they’re detracting from her character. I liked her as a character before she was brought into all this x-men mutant crap but now she is losing what made her the most unique – a streetlevel Muslim superheroine. They’re trying to elevate her into a greater character than she already is and through that they’re losing what makes her special in the first place: Jersey city, her family, and her friends

I honestly agree with everything you said here. I don’t think she’s a bad character, but certainly not one important enough to enter the X-Men’s history and alter reality. And you’re also right about the fact that they’re using the same tactic they’ve done with countless other characters. The problem with that is it makes things confusing and less approachable to new readers. I think Ms. Marvel will have a big part to play in “Avengers: Doomsday” at bridging the gap between old mutants and new. So naturally like marvel does with everything else, they’re trying to do the same in the comics. It’s like when they ret conned Magneto being Wanda’s father when “age of ultron” was coming out. I honestly feel like DC comics has had the upper hand the last couple years over marvel.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks that.
