Same here, and good on you for getting a sketch from the man himself. I gotta tell ya, Stan Sakai is probably my favorite extant comic book writer/artist, and I love how he keeps himself involved with anything to do with Usagi instead of letting other people take the reins.
I really, really wish they’d do an animated series of Usagi Yojimbo. Not like the “Samurai Rabbit” show, which was decent, but I mean something with the main man, the genuine article himself, with all the blood, violence and drama included.
One of my biggest hopes is to someday see Usagi in a crossover event with the Ninja Turtles over in IDW, where he ends up in their world. I would love nothing more than to see a genuine samurai warrior stomp on the Foot.
The TMNT cartoon in the 80s is how I found out Usagi Yojimbo existed! I had the action figure and everything! I loved how he beat all 4 Turtles.at once!
It just goes to show that in an actual fight, the Samurai always bests the Ninja, despite portrayal to the contrary by a lot of modern media.

Okay, I like how this modern re-interpretation of Sakai’s characters is starting off. Interesting to see Miyamoto’s descendant having them kind of fame/infamy as Nezumi. Can’t wait to see what the other characters are like in the 80s.
I’m willing to bet this Blood Kintsugi Spear is actually the Kusanagi.

Usagi Yojimbo was my favorite comic as a kid growing up in the 90s!
One.of my best memory is meeting Sakai at HeroesCon at 12 and him drawing me a.free Usage sketch!
I love crime and Heist comics, so I’m all in for this!
