โ€œWhat If The Entire Marvel Universe Got Hit By The Worf Effect?โ€

Hickmanโ€™s a terrific writer, and Ribic does some beautiful work, but this entire series is just preposterous.
Thereโ€™s no conceivable way the Xenos could take down Earth.
Iron Man alone could destroy them all.
Or Thor
Or Hulk
Or Thing
Or Wonder Man
Or Vision
Or Scarlet Witch
Or Dr. Strange
Or Photon
The list is endless.
Pretty much ever Marvel character who isnโ€™t street-level could turn the tide single-handedly.
Not to mention all the alien races, the Nova Corps, Quasar, the Shโ€™iar Imperial Guard, any one of Galactusโ€™ heralds, goddamn Thanos, itโ€™s absurd.

Hickman didnโ€™t even cheat and give the Xenos a bunch of upgrades.
Maybe if theyโ€™d ambushed some mutants and made super-powered hybrids or something, itโ€™d be a little more believable.
But the only time that happened was with the Sinister-Xeno.
All the rest of the time it was just the usual Aliens, who can be killed with conventional weapons. They canโ€™t fly, they donโ€™t have energy powers, they donโ€™t even use technology.
I realize that What If? stories routinely show the heroes dying in ways they never would in canon, but this went way too far.

But havenโ€™t any of you learned anything from the longer Marvel runs by Hickman? What makes this so absolutely perfect is that its a super action and story packed confined mini series. I can see a 100 ways a longer run could ruin it. After a while Hickman would grow tired of it and other writers would jump on as well as worse artists to keep up with the deadlines. And before long we would all complain about how such a fantastic first arc was ruined by bad storytelling and horrible artwork. Just sayinโ€ฆ
Instead let us all enjoy this well crafted superb mini series for what it is in itself!

I could definitely see a sequel to this.

Man, this was quite amazing. Hickman thrives in this kind of long reaching, nihilist narrative – reminded me of his “time runs out” arc in Avengers, one of his best. And Esad Ribic was born to draw spaceships and collapsing planets. His art always had this scifiquality to it, and it really shines in this series. Wish we could have had a couple more issues in this series – I wouldn’t mind at all that the initial sequence for this series, of the Wakandan Intergalactic Empire being consumed by the Alien infection, be expdanded to a whole issue – but man, I’m very satisfied with what we got in the end.

I agree. The collapse of the Wakandian Empire and their fight with the engineers would have been a legendary thing to see. I wish this series could be longer, there’s so much potential in this.
