I figured they’d manage to kill off flash (Again) but I’m leaning towards Paul. He’s going to put himself between eddies kid and the killer and get taken out.

The reunion with MJ was a bit rush and hope for them to take it slow and reconcile would start from here with no one interfering this time( Paul and flash cough) , only person to take MJ place , if somehow the writers fuck it up , is felicia ( black cat ,caused she the only other woman that understand and care for what peter go though like MJ ) and it suck that shocker an OG villain went out like that !!

Please don’t tell me all that speculating on the role the shocker was going to play was just to play the victim 🫠
C’mon it was pretty obvious he was going to be killed, especially since he was featured in the covers and the synopsis said that a major death will kick all of this off. Feel bad for shocker, but if they went out of their way to resurrect boomerang, shocker will come back too

NO! No, no, no! You can’t tell me Herman Schultz, the Shocker, is dead! He was one of my favorite Spider-Man villains when I was growing up watching Spider-Man TAS. Ever since he helped the Avengers fight off a demon invasion, I’ve been hoping so badly that maybe he’ll turn over a new leaf and become a hero, try to reinvent himself into something more positive. Now, it looks like that’s been hacked up and bled dry. That is a bummer for me.
Still can’t believe the Shocker was some kind of relation to MJ, that would’ve been a weird family reunion.
Well, the reunion between Peter and MJ wasn’t entirely as awkward, loud and angry as I thought it would be. Truth be told, it felt a bit rushed. I was hoping for a lot more emotional airing out than what was featured here. However, having said that, it has been established that Peter has done his best to move on, and they have interacted with each other since their break-up. The fact that Paul wasn’t anywhere to offend the eye made it very palatable to see these two talk to each other. And the fact that MJ and Peter are able to talk so comfortably together like this, despite the sheer amount of insanity they’ve both been through, is just further proof how much they belong together. Also, the fact that they are able to talk together so comfortably, despite the sheer insanity both of them have been through, is the perfect set up for them to begin the road of coming back together. After all, open dialogue is the path to understanding, and understanding is the cornerstone of love.
I actually like the death of the Shocker, adds some gravitas to the whole thing.
Of course, being comics, they’ll find a way to bring him back, but oh well.
As to the reunion of Peter and MJ, at I first was pretty underwhelmed by it, but on further reflection, I think it fits their dynamic. They’ve both moved on from their romantic relationship, but their friendship remains intact.
Hence Peter’s focus on the fact that MJ died, and her gentle reminder that processing everything alone isn’t always the best coping strategy.
Although I love Venom’s comments from the peanut gallery, trying to gauge if there’s a romantic future for the two of them as he casually notes that physical touch is a sign of care, then trying to get in on some of that action himself.
Agreed on all counts. Roderick Kingsley, the original Hobgoblin, was dead until he wasn’t and returned to be an all-around pain in Spider-Man’s ass once again. And given that the Shocker is pretty much a fixture of the Spider-Man comics, it should be a fact that he will return (fingers crossed).
I felt the same way you did when it came to Peter and MJ’s long overdue reunion. I felt like it was very lacking in emotion, but like you said, after a moment of taking it and thinking it through, it really does show just how mature and comfortable they are in their relationship together and how well the know each other. For a long time leading up to this, I was very much hoping for some intense emotional outlet between these two, but after reflecting on this scene here, I asked myself “Do I want to see these two have some kind of bitter emotional spat, or would I rather see them go down the path to truly mending their relationship to what it’s meant to be”, and so I came to the conclusion this was the mature thing to do. So, credit to the writers on this. Hopefully, things only get better for them from here, even if it’s only baby steps.
And the absolute best part of this entire issue, Shocker’s death notwithstanding, was the fact that there was no sight or even mention of Paul Rabin this entire issue. Just as it should be. I’ve been really hoping to see him get killed off somehow, but perhaps it would be more fitting and a perfect insult to have him simply fade away into obscurity like the meaningless nothing he truly is.
When you look at MJ’s character history, she has only had 4 serious boyfriends.
Harry Osborn, Peter, Bobby Carr, and he-who-has-besmirched-my-name-through-his-very-existence
The firefighter in the superior Spider-Man arc barely lasted a couple of issues, and while she has been on numerous dates (one would assume), she really hasn’t been serious about many people, and with the exception of Peter, they all disappeared from her life.
The only reason that Harry stayed a part of her life is because he was friends with Peter.
And for all her history of moving on from her exes, she never quite leaves Peter completely behind. Now whether that’s because he’s unable to let her go, and he insists on staying in her orbit, or it’s her who can’t quite move on, or if it’s the both of them that never quite get over the other, it’s hard to say. But it does point to the fact that there is a very strong bond between them.
So yes, let Zeb Wells’s needless insert disappear in the same way that Bobby Carr did!
Amen. Peter has also had many women in his life come and go, other romances, some more significant than others, with MJ being among them, but Mary Jane Watson seems to be the only truly constant in Peter Parker’s life, whether as his friend or his lover. And their relationship has always been deeper than all the others.
Zeb Wells ruined his own career as a comic book writer by ruining one of the top couples in all of comics. Kelly here and the others have a chance to make their career climb higher by cleaning up the mess Wells left behind. Let’s see if they can pull it off.
That’s been my fantasy for a while now, but my biggest fear is that will somehow make MJ feel some sort of misplaced guilt for his death and hamper any future romantic relationship with Peter than it already is.
No, way. That would still garner way too much sympathy for him. Just have him fade out of existence, or better yet, reveal that he was some kind of machination or agent of Mephisto’s to gaslight MJ into getting her away from Peter, that would definitely make her hate his guts as much as we do.

hopefully he be one of the victim later on in this saga ( Paul )
