Vol 1: May 1988 – August 1988
Martian Manhunter was a four-issue limited series published from May–August of 1988. Written by J.M. DeMatteis with illustrations by Mark Badger, the series re-evaluated the origin of the Martian Manhunter and introduced the character of H’ronmeer, the Martian death god. The series also featured guest appearances by members of Justice League International.
Martian Manhunter walks across the barren desert of Mars with H’ronmeer. Now free of his fever, H’ronmeer shared with J’onn J’onzz the true history of Mars.
Jonn sees the Martian race evolve from a species of bird. The Martians evolve into a pacifist society, creating wondrous architecture. However, a plague hits the Martian race, and J’onn’s wife is one of the Martians that succumbs. In order to purge the plague, the Martians create huge funeral pyres to incinerate the contaminated bodies. J’onn watches the memory of his wife burning in the pyre.
Vol 2: October 1998 – November 2001
Martian Manhunter (Volume 2) was the second ongoing comic book series to feature the Martian Manhunter. It was published from October of 1998 until November of 2001, spanning a total of thirty-six issues, a special 0 issue, a 1 Million issue, and two Annuals. The series was written by John Ostrander with artistic contributions from Tom Mandrake and Doug Mahnke.
The Martian Manhunter investigates a killer who is decapitating street people.

Vol 3: October 2006 – May 2007
Martian Manhunter (Volume 3) is an eight-issue limited series which ran from October of 2006 to May of 2007. The storyline continued from a preview story, which appeared as a vignette in Brave New World #1.
