The Frost Giant’s Daughter, an adaptation of the Robert E. Howard story of the same name, featuring Conan the Cimmerian, a barbarian warrior in a frozen land facing human and superhuman foes.
Vol 2: October 1985 – December 1986
Where Marvel’s Epic Illustrated had a science fiction and fantasy bent, Savage Tales featured “two-fisted” adventure stories, with predominantly war-time and western settings. While the series only lasted eight issues, it did introduce Larry Hama and Michael Golden’s The ‘Nam. While the content usually distanced itself from explicit sexual themes, the magazine’s two scantily-clad “mascots” did appear on nearly every cover.
