The Boston Strangler and the Zodiac Killer are alive and well, living amongst the old and dying of The Shady Lane Retirement Center.
Surrounded by bingo tournaments and tea times, these two notorious serial killers quietly trade “war stories” about their golden years, two seemingly parallel pasts filled with violence and victims.
Life at the Shady Lane Retirement Center for Elderly Adults is nothing spectacular. Robert Sprunger does his best living the life of his peers. Being old hasn’t lessened the feelings and urges he once had. All he can do is but dream of his “glory days.”
One day there is a new arrival. This man is named Robert also. Robert Steib. Steib soon does his best to befriend Sprunger. Robert doesn’t mind despite the fact that Steib likes to talk…a lot. He questions him one day why that is. He feels that those that talk a lot do so to avoid saying what’s really on their mind. Sprunger questions him about his interest in him. He tells him that at first he thought he was just “fruity” or something. Then he realized it was because they could smell their own.
The two men soon confide in each other about their previous lives…as serial killers.
