This series continues the numbering of Tales of the Unexpected (vol. 1). While Tales of the Unexpected was a science-fiction/fantasy series, The Unexpected had a focus on horror and “weird mystery” stories. Over the course of its run, several cancelled series were folded into The Unexpected: House of Secrets, The Witching Hour, Doorway to Nightmare, and Time Warp.
Recurring characters (including hosts in framing sequences) include Johnny Peril, the Mad Mod Witch, Judge Gallows, Abel, the Three Witches, and Madame Xanadu.
