I think Paul gets too much hate. At the end of the day he’s a good guy, and its a shame to see him die like this. The writer’s threw him in to prevent Peter and MJ from getting together, but the character itself is fine, and he already broke up with MJ. He just proved that he is a good person, and all the hate he faces from fans should be redirected towards editorial staff. At the end fo the day, let’s recognize Paul for who he is in these final moments: a father, a hero, and a good man

well Paul is done and we can rest that worst chapter of Spidey era , this not making mj ending up with flash or anyone at all for rn for the moment because of the drama , I believed she may adopt Dylan as a son doe . I laugh when peter nearly say paul was an ex for mj ( he chock on not saying that ), yeah my bro despite he may feel bad the dude dead, I know he have a slight relief that this waste of garbage is gone and anyone believing flash is going to end up with mj is crazy , if it does happen, it not going to last long and mj is going to compare flash down the rd to peter and see who the superior hero and man is .

The real shame in all of this is that it took Shocker being killed for Paul to finally get axed out of the picture. I am more depressed that he’s dead than Paul because at the very least, Shocker had some real significance to the Marvel Universe. Paul was more like an infected appendix that needed to be removed. The only thing that could have made Paul’s death more satisfying to me was if Spyral scalped that butt-stupid man-bun off his lid, that would have been worth the years of suffering that douchey simp’s existence.

I’m right there with you in the hopes that the writers don’t do the next stupid thing and hook MJ up with Flash out of the blue after she just got done with one meaningless relationship. Now is the time for cleanup with MJ’s character, not staining it even further. She broke up with Paul, now Paul’s dead, or at the very least appears to be dead, probably still need to see his body on a slab for true confirmation, but now is the time for MJ to really expand and grow further as a character, regain her popularity. I would rather continue reading her being a host to a Symbiote than what they did with her in that crappy Jackpot comic they did. It might have been an interesting read, but I just couldn’t see past Paul’s sickening existence to notice anything else. Venom is less of a parasite than Paul is/was/

My favorite part of this comic was seeing Paul get stabbed. I’m going to remember this part forever, right next to that scene where the evil-possessed Spider-Man was beating the ever-living crap out of him, because it’s the only thing that can make me forget how Mary-Jane Watson left Peter Parker for such a pointless simp.

The only person I’m feeling any real sympathy for is Dylan. I mean, that kid has been through so much already. I’m hoping he catches some kind of break, maybe even get his relationship with his father mended through this.

Now my biggest worry is that Mary Jane is going to feel some kind of guilt or internal conflict regarding Paul and his death, because not only is that an overplayed trope, but Paul is truly not worth that kind of effort in a story where the readers and fans all hate his guts. My true hope is that somehow Peter and MJ’s relationship can move forward to what it’s supposed to be from here on out. I have no doubt it could take a while, but that would just make their romantic reunion all the sweeter.

When I first saw Spyral in the previews and the art, I actually thought he was some kind of symbiote host, but he clearly isn’t. I can’t tell if he’s some kind of viciously psychotic serial killer just getting his rocks off, or if he’s some kind of assassin carrying out a hit. Or worse yet, maybe he’s some kind of cultic fanatic? So far, he’s given no logic behind why he would wipe out three different family lines in such brutal ways, which is horrifying in of itself. And now, this demented murdering freak, has the freaking Carnage Symbiote bonded to him; it’s going to be a match made in hell for Pete, Eddie and MJ. But if Spyral tries using the Shocker gauntlet and it blasts Carnage off him because he didn’t think about that, I’m going to laugh my ass off.

Paul being stabbed was no great thing. There will be no Peter and MJ. At least not in 616.

No offense intended, but I do hope you’re wrong. And the fact that the writers had MJ break up with Paul, had Dylan Brock voice what everyone thinks of Paul, and now have him possibly fatally stabbed, shows that they know what a horrid mistake Paul is/was.

In my opinion, I believe the mistake was not developing Paul more seriously. He is one of three characters who have the ability to combine science and Magic. The one most known about it is Black Knight. Paul literally was the second one. The third was a woman during the previous X-Force Comics that was the main antagonist. But not even Doctor Doom or Reed Richards knows how.

And sorry, but this issue clearly hints that MJ might be getting with Flash and not Peter.

Don’t know what you were reading but thereโ€™s nothing that even suggests MJ and Flash at all

Agreed. So far, it just looks like, in lieu of Peter (who was actually Ben Reily) not wanting to talk to her, MJ needed to talk to someone who knows what it’s like to be bonded to the Venom symbiote. And that’s all I really have seen, and all that I hope it stays.

In the upcoming ASM Aunt Anna will be playing Match Maker for MJ and Flash. Plus what have you been reading? MJ has been spending all this time with Flash. In Venom 253 Flash hinted at wanting to becoming more than friends. In ASM/Venom: Death Spiral #1 MJ and Flash was having that night stroll through the park where MJ asked What their relationship is and Flash said they’re friends which she said is good because her breakup with Paul is too recent. But asked him if they could be a Maybe more down the line.

You know that Flash ‘hinting’ at wanting to be more than friends was to cover up the morse code he was sending to Venom via the Anti-Venom because Madam Masque was listening to everything that was being verbally said by MJ and Flash.

I wasn’t talking about that moment in the Venom comic with the Morse code. I specifically said AMS/VENOM DEATH SPIRAL #1 comic where he said that he would like to be more than friends was in. It’s a single issue that leads to the Death Spiral event cross over event between Venom and ASM.

I beg to differ my bro, it going to happen, but it will take a while or maybe longer , and mj is not running to flash after this, I believed she be too traumatized to be in any relationship rn . , but if it did happen , it not going to last long and guilt will consume MJ

MJ and Flash hookup won’t happen immediately but Al Ewing has definitely been throwing multiple hints that he wants this pairing.

My best guess is that MJ and Dylan wind up bonding over their feelings of guilt over Paul.
Being comics, I’m not sure Paul will stay dead, but if they do bring him back, hopefully it’s as a villain, hellbent on revenge against MJ and/or Peter, and they find their way back to one another.

Yeah, that’d be nice, so that we can replace our old negative feelings about him with new negative feelings about him. Maybe he gets resurrected by whatever powers his daddy had which somehow makes him evil, or whatever the hell. Either way, so long as he’s finally out of the picture, especially where MJ is concerned, if even for a while, I’ll be happy with this turn of events.

And since MJ has already come to terms that her relationship with Paul reached its end, which she stated that she felt even before she officially broke up with him, I doubt any guilt she may feel about his death will have anything to do with their failed romance.

Once this whole thing with Spyral has ended, hopefully, Peter and MJ can start going down the road to reigniting their love for one another, even if it’s just baby steps.

Despite the way Wells’ portrayed her, MJ has always had a good heart, and despite the fact that she and Paul were trauma bonded, they were together for four years.
Not sure about the timeline in comics, but that’s probably about as long as she and Peter were together. She will have some sort of feelings of grief, and the guilt will probably come from not being there when spiral showed up, as Dylan is blaming her/Venom for.

Agreed, MJ always had a good heart, which is what made both her breakup with Peter, and especially her relationship with Paul, all the more the tragic.

However, as even MJ mentioned when she broke up with Paul, their entire relationship was centered around those two not-real kids. This was a real developmental moment for MJ because she finally realized her personal issue of avoiding difficult issues, such as her recent bonding with the Venom symbiote as well as realizing that her relationship with Paul was going nowhere.

So, hopefully, after this, she will continue to develop and grow more as her own character in the Marvel Universe, and eventually, find her way back to Peter.
