I have to admit that I was expecting a lot more action and “boom” when it came to the miles 1000th issue of “The Amazing Spider-Man”, which is arguably Marvel’s most popular comic title. This issue was felt more like an opening towards future Spider-Man comics, which I think is a very good thing. After the whole thing with Torment and Peter and MJ officially moving past the mistakes Zeb Wells left on them, slowly but surely, this feels like a very well-done step in the right direction for Spider-Man storytelling. And the fact that it features a long-lost secret in Peter’s family, and not a terrible, villainous secret, but one that hits right where the heart is for Peter and Aunt May is an excellent way to go from here.

I love the not too common instances where Spider-Man shows up and shows that he’s more than just bad jokes and witty comments and demonstrates that he is capable of kicking as much ass and breaking as many bones as any Avenger. You’d think most of the villains at Tombstone’s fight club would know that by now. And I love how he’s fighting to get Shocker’s gauntlets back, and I have no doubt that he’d doing this for all the right reasons.

And now Raelith is showing up right in the middle of a high-stakes gladiator match to help Spider-Man in a double-team against the Vulture and Tombstone. When it comes to here, I think this will qualify as the best date ever.
