Batman Isn’t a fascist, it’s just that Bruce became aware on the Joker’s indestructible nature, as well as the fact all of Bruce’s friends rejected him as he tried to reconcile. Bruce realizes in order to combat the monsters he’s going up against, he needs to “evolve” like a bat would (getting more tougher, violent, darker, both physically and mentally)
What’s special about a bat at its core?
I think the reason why Bruce listened to Ivy Instead of taking Gordon’s advice is because… Batman is Bruce’s personification of bats and..Whatโs special about a bat at its core? Unlike a tree, Bats adapt and change. Its in their nature. Bats are the only mammals that flies, they defy the impossible, and right now Bruce is trying to defy the impossible by defeating the Joker.
I think what made Bruce listen to Ivy’s persuasion is when Ivy said ‘Maybe if you were willing to evolve on your own, to become what’s needed, maybe you’ll be able to stop HIM, Batman”
So, Bruce simply took Ivy’s advice and COMPLETELY changes by obliterating Poison Ivy’s heart through a potshot, becoming a more darker, tougher, meaner version of Batman.
Do you mean to have a yellow background on your avatar? Cuz in the words of Aus Rotten, “we don’t quite want to see an an-cap dead, just teach them to wear black and red!”
You know, I found Ivy’s lecture to Batman about change is ironic, but I ALSO noticed that Barbara’s advice to Jim Gordon also applies to Ivy herself! Poison Ivy grows tallest by maintaining her roots. She does this by preserving her heart, the same one that her mother held, to symbolize her ambition to achieve her first wish. Although her methods of achieving this wish is WAY different back when she was Dr.Isley, she still cared for her roots without changing them.

Wow. After that last issue, I thought Martha was a member of the Court of Owls, but she was a damned Talon?! Now we know where Bruce’s natural talent for violence must come from. I like how Martha makes it seem like the Talons were the original protectors of Gotham but have since been crushed and driven out. Yet one more new twist of established lore in the Absolute Universe.
I find it somehow cosmically well-timed that I started reading this issue not long after defeating the Plant 43 Boss on RE: Requiem, because that’s exactly what Poison Ivy here reminded me of.
I guess Batman’s done playing nice when it comes to dealing with criminals and killers, huh? That’s definitely why I’m enjoying Absolute Batman more than mainstream Batman.
And this universe’s James Gordon was able to piece together Batman’s secret identity, will wonders ever cease? It’s a good thing people in the mainstream universe aren’t as smart or observant in figuring out Superman’s secret identity, otherwise he’d have some serious problems.
You know I agree. I wish it were sharper more defined but I suppose that was the aesthetic of Ivey. A chimera. A muddled mess. The battles wet full of writhing evolving chaos. The memories were less sharply defined. The present was clean and straight forward. Art, man. Itโs a gas.

love the pacing of this story so much. Splicing Bruceโs past w his present is making me appreciate good storytelling yet again.
So Batman becomes the villian…
Too bad he went from punching fascists to becoming one.

But Ivy was right!

Hyp no glas ses.
Well in the regular DC.Universe, every one of Batman’s villains knows his secret identity (well not all, but all the usual) so its just similar!
I enjoy this issue, but the art was too lacking for me.
